Personal
Three years back I was asked to mention three things I really like, and I said "coding, music, coffee". I think the statement still holds.
I love computer science and I consider myself extremely lucky to have been born in an era where I can write code to earn my bread and butter. I try to set high standards for myself, choosing difficult over easy, risky over safe. The trick to cultivating excellence, I think, is to never stop challenging oneself.
I like listening to Pink Floyd, Ravi Shankar, The Doors, Joe Satriani, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Bach among others. What I love about these musicians is their talent -- they really are the symbols of pushing the self to the heights of artistic achievement.
As for coffee, I almost exclusively drink Mysore Royal, prepared either by a small coffee machine I have or on a french press. I intend to be a coffee connoisseur one day.
I favor extreme individual freedom over convenience and loose social structure over a strictly structured society because that is the environment, I think, in which true excellence can thrive.
I am an atheist for all practical purposes.
